Online calculators can be useful as a starting point, but they usually ignore the details that matter most in real cases here—especially when the death happened on roadways with heavy commuting traffic, during seasonal travel, or near pedestrian activity around town.
A real settlement value depends on evidence and legal proof, including:
- How clearly fault can be shown (and whether more than one party is involved)
- Whether the death was caused by the incident (medical causation is often contested)
- What damages are provable with documents (not just what feels fair)
- How Missouri law affects recovery, including how fault may be allocated when multiple parties contributed
In other words: the “number” from a calculator is not the same thing as what an insurer will consider after reviewing the case file.
