Many online tools ask for basic inputs—age, income, dependents—and then output a rough range. That can be a starting point, but it often misses what decides real outcomes in Florida:
- Comparative fault can reduce recovery. In Florida, if the decedent is partly responsible, damages may be reduced based on assigned fault.
- Insurance limits and policy structure matter. In many fatal-injury cases, the available coverage (auto, premises, commercial, or employer policies) can cap what negotiations can realistically reach.
- Causation disputes are common. The question isn’t only “who was at fault,” but also whether the incident caused the death—something insurers frequently challenge with medical records.
In other words: the “calculator result” is only as accurate as the evidence behind it.
