Many online tools ask for basic inputs—age, income, dependents—and then generate a rough range. That can be useful for starting a conversation, but it can miss the factors that matter most in Malibu, including:
- Whether the incident happened in a high-visibility environment (busy corridors, tourist foot traffic, or mixed pedestrian/vehicle areas)
- How fault is likely to be allocated when more than one party’s actions contributed to the death
- Whether causation is disputed due to medical history, delayed complications, or expert review
- What insurance coverage and policy limits are available in the specific incident type (vehicle, property, employer, or product)
In other words: a calculator may estimate categories of loss, but it can’t evaluate the strength of the evidence that California courts and insurers rely on.
