Online tools usually follow a generic model. Your claim, however, is built from documents—medical notes, incident reports, wage records, and the timing of your treatment.
In the real world, common reasons an estimate can miss the mark include:
- Delayed reporting after a work accident or gradual injury (common when symptoms start after a shift and people “wait it out”).
- Inconsistent work history details—for example, if your duties changed on the job or you temporarily worked lighter tasks.
- Medical documentation gaps, such as missing restrictions, unclear causation language, or treatment notes that don’t match your reported limitations.
- Job-site realities—like repetitive movements, heat-related fatigue, or safety procedures that affect how an insurer views credibility.
A calculator can’t see those records. That’s why it’s better to treat it like a question prompt, not a prediction of your final settlement.
