In practice, a workers’ comp “settlement” often gets discussed as if it’s one number. But in many Texas cases, what people call settlement value is really a mix of:
- Medical treatment costs (including future care if your condition doesn’t fully resolve)
- Income replacement benefits during periods you can’t work
- Compensation related to impairment or lasting restrictions
- Remaining disputes (for example, whether the injury is work-related, the seriousness of the condition, or your ability to return to work)
That’s why two people can plug similar numbers into the same calculator and end up with very different outcomes.
