Online tools usually take a few inputs (like wages, time missed, and injury type) and produce a range. That can be helpful for basic planning, especially if you’re early in the process.
But in real South Dakota workers’ compensation claims, two cases that look similar on the internet can produce very different results once the insurer reviews:
- the medical record timeline (when symptoms were reported and when treatment started)
- whether the condition is supported as work-related
- what restrictions the treating providers documented for your specific job duties
- whether your claim involves return-to-work issues (common in physically demanding roles)
A calculator can’t see those details. Your claim file can.
