Most online calculators are built around general assumptions: your average wage, treatment costs, and whether the injury is expected to improve or leave lasting restrictions.
In North Carolina, though, the path to a settlement is rarely “plug-and-play.” Two people can enter the system with the same diagnosis and end up with very different outcomes because of differences in:
- Work status after the injury (returned to full duty vs. restricted duty vs. unable to work)
- Documentation timing (how quickly symptoms were reported and evaluated)
- Credibility issues that insurers commonly raise (inconsistencies between the job demands and medical restrictions)
- Whether the insurer accepts that the condition is work-related under the evidence in your file
A calculator can be a starting point, but it can’t replace the reality of your specific employment history, medical record, and the disputes that may arise in your claim.
