Most online tools estimate a workers’ comp settlement by using broad assumptions—such as your average weekly wage, the type of injury, and whether you might have impairment or future medical needs.
But in New Jersey workers’ compensation, the “estimate” can swing significantly based on whether the insurer believes:
- the injury is medically supported as work-related (and not just coincidental)
- your employer received timely notice and your account stayed consistent
- your treatment was reasonable and necessary
- your work restrictions match what your medical records actually show
A calculator can’t see the documents the way an attorney can. It also can’t account for what happens when your claim is questioned—especially when there’s a mismatch between how your injury was described early on and how it’s later documented.
