Most calculators online are built around generic assumptions: wages, a rough idea of medical costs, and whether impairment or disability may exist. In real Illinois workers’ compensation cases, the value discussion is shaped by evidence that often doesn’t fit neatly into a website form.
A calculator typically can’t fully account for:
- how your injury was documented right after it happened
- whether the medical provider clearly ties your condition to the work event
- whether you reached medical stability (an important turning point for many claims)
- disputes about causation, limitations, or whether additional treatment is reasonable
So think of the number you see online as a range-building tool, not a promise.
