Most online tools assume a “generic” work injury. Your situation may not be generic if any of the following are true:
- Your job involved shift work tied to industrial schedules, meaning wage calculations may include fluctuating hours or overtime.
- Your medical record includes delayed symptom reporting (which can happen when people first push through pain on the job).
- Your injury is disputed as to whether it was caused by work versus a preexisting condition.
- Your claim involves a return-to-work conflict, where restrictions prevent you from doing the same duties.
A calculator may give a range, but it can’t review your medical causation, your employer’s incident documentation, or how your treating providers describe functional limits.
