A calculator is best viewed as a budgeting tool. It can help you estimate potential categories of damages—such as medical treatment costs, lost wages, and non-economic harm—so you can understand what information will matter most.
But in truck cases, the “right” numbers depend on details that a generic online tool can’t see, including:
- Which vehicle and commercial entity is responsible (driver, trucking company, loader, or maintenance vendor)
- Whether your injuries are supported by objective medical findings
- Whether liability is shared and how comparative fault could reduce recovery under New York law
- The policy limits available for the at-fault parties
In other words: a calculator may suggest a range, but it can’t confirm the evidence and coverage that drive settlement value.
