Most online calculators work by asking about your injuries, treatment costs, and time away from work. That can be useful for planning—but it can’t account for the details that often decide outcomes in truck cases.
In Michigan, insurers commonly scrutinize:
- Causation: whether your medical problems are supported as resulting from the crash (not pre-existing issues or unrelated conditions).
- Comparative responsibility arguments: whether the defense claims you contributed to the crash.
- Available coverage: truck cases may involve more than one defendant (driver, trucking company, leasing parties, maintenance contractors).
A calculator can be a starting point. What it can’t do is validate the evidence that adjusts the number up or down.
