Most online tools estimate value by using inputs like:
- medical expenses to date and expected treatment
- lost wages
- property damage
- a rough range for non-economic damages
That can be useful if you’re early in the process and trying to understand what categories might apply.
But in real Illinois truck cases, two things often shift the final settlement more than the “math” does:
- Causation and medical proof (what caused your injuries, and how strongly the records support that)
- Liability allocation between the driver, trucking company, and sometimes other parties
If your calculator assumes a single-at-fault driver or uses incomplete medical information, the estimate may come out too low—or occasionally too high—compared to what insurers are willing to negotiate.
