Most online calculators use generic inputs—severity, treatment length, and missed time from work—to produce a range. That can be a starting point, but it often breaks down for local TBI cases because the proof is rarely “clean.”
In practice, adjusters focus on whether the record shows:
- A consistent symptom timeline (headache, dizziness, memory issues, mood changes)
- Functional impact tied to daily activities and work demands
- Causation—the injury symptoms match the accident mechanism (impact, fall, sudden stop, etc.)
- Objective support where available (ER findings, imaging, neuro exams), even when symptoms are partly subjective
When a claim involves a delayed diagnosis, appointment gaps, or disputes about how the injury happened, a calculator’s estimate can be far from reality.
