Many calculators online ask for injury severity, age, and hospitalization time, then generate a range. That approach misses several factors that commonly drive outcomes in real spinal cord cases:
- Proof of causation (whether the incident is medically connected to the neurological damage)
- Consistency of the medical record (how quickly symptoms were documented and how treatment progressed)
- Disputed fault (common when multiple vehicles, shared road conditions, or employer/contractor responsibilities are involved)
- Future care needs (which may change as therapy progresses or complications arise)
In other words: a tool may estimate. Your settlement usually depends on what can be proven.
