Most online tools estimate value using simplified inputs (injury severity, time in treatment, lost income). That can be helpful for understanding categories of damages and for setting expectations.
But in spinal cord injury cases, the estimate can drift quickly because settlement value depends on details that calculators usually can’t accurately model, such as:
- whether imaging and neurologic exams support the same injury timeline
- how long rehabilitation actually continues (and whether additional surgeries are anticipated)
- the level of long-term assistance required at home
- whether liability is disputed (common when there are multiple vehicles, unclear fault, or conflicting witness accounts)
Bottom line: treat the calculator as a conversation starter—not a decision tool.
