Online tools usually estimate value using broad categories (age, hospitalization time, severity). That’s helpful for orientation, but it often overlooks the factors that commonly drive spinal injury outcomes in our area, such as:
- Impact mechanics from winter driving and slip events (how the force traveled through the spine)
- Delays or gaps in getting imaging and follow-up after an ER visit
- Complicated treatment timelines—including rehab transitions and equipment needs that evolve over time
- Functional changes that affect commuting and local work (for example, inability to safely drive, climb steps, or perform physical job duties)
A calculator can’t confirm whether liability will be accepted, whether causation will be challenged, or how much the injury truly impacts your day-to-day life.
