Most online tools treat your situation like a set of inputs that produce a range. Real spinal cord injury cases don’t work that cleanly—especially when the incident involves commuting corridors, intersections, construction zones, or industrial traffic common across the area.
A calculator also can’t automatically account for:
- whether imaging and early neurologic findings were documented quickly
- how clearly treatment providers link the incident mechanism to later symptoms
- whether liability is likely to be contested (often the case with catastrophic injuries)
- the difference between short-term stabilization and long-term care needs
Bottom line: use a calculator as a starting point, not a decision tool.
