Most calculators online are built on averages. They can’t reliably account for the details that matter most in real spinal cord injury claims—like the exact neurological level of injury, the presence of complications, and how your functional limitations affect your ability to work and live independently.
In California practice, insurers also evaluate risk using the specific proof they expect to defend against in settlement negotiations and (if needed) litigation. That means value depends on things a calculator can’t “see,” such as:
- Whether your medical records clearly connect the incident mechanism to the diagnosis
- The consistency of your symptom timeline
- How future care needs are described (rehab, assistive devices, mobility assistance, home modifications)
- Whether liability is contested and supported by witness or documentation
Treat an online tool as a starting reference point, not a promise.
