In many Colorado long-term care incidents, the fall itself is only part of the story. What matters just as much—sometimes more—is the facility’s response afterward:
- How quickly staff evaluated the resident after the incident
- Whether head injury symptoms were recognized and documented
- Whether mobility changes, dizziness, or pain were monitored and acted on
- Whether the care plan was updated when risk increased
Colorado care standards require facilities to provide reasonable care for resident safety. When documentation shows gaps—late assessments, incomplete incident reporting, or inconsistent nursing notes—it can be a strong indicator that the resident’s condition wasn’t handled appropriately.
