A calculator typically uses general assumptions to generate an estimate. But real claim value depends on factors that are hard to capture with an online form—especially early on.
After a crash, insurers commonly scrutinize:
- Medical causation: whether doctors connect your injuries to the specific crash (not just symptoms you later developed)
- Consistency of treatment: whether follow-ups and therapy align with the injury claimed
- Comparative fault arguments: claims that the rider was speeding, not using proper lane position, or reacting too late
- Documentation quality: whether the police report, photos, and witness accounts actually support your version
If your injuries are still developing, a calculator may understate the long-term impact (rehab needs, ongoing pain management, reduced ability to work). If the evidence is incomplete, it may overstate what a reasonable settlement would be.
