Most people use a settlement calculator to get a starting range. That’s reasonable. But in New Jersey, your settlement value is strongly tied to what can be proven—not what you hope is true.
A calculator may help you estimate broad categories like:
- medical costs (past and expected)
- wage loss and reduced earning capacity
- pain, suffering, and loss of normal life
- the effect of treatment gaps or disputed causation
However, a tool can’t see the evidence that decides whether the insurer believes you. If your crash involves competing accounts—common where visibility is limited or multiple vehicles are involved—your range can swing significantly depending on documentation.
