Many calculators build a range from generalized inputs (like injury severity or medical expenses). But real valuation depends on details that tools usually can’t see—especially the kind of evidence that matters in Virginia:
- What the records actually say (timeline of symptoms, orders, test results, discharge instructions)
- Whether the care team met the applicable standard of care in the circumstances presented
- Whether negligence caused the harm, not merely coincided with it
- Whether future treatment is supported by medical documentation
In practice, two Bristol residents can have similar diagnoses but very different outcomes for settlement value because the legal question is narrower than “someone was hurt.”
