Online tools usually estimate value using broad variables—like treatment type, injury severity, and past medical bills. That can give you a rough sense of where a case might land.
However, a calculator can’t properly account for the elements that matter in real South Carolina evaluations, including:
- Whether the provider’s care fell below the standard of care
- Whether the medical error caused the harm (not just occurred alongside it)
- How reliable the documentation is—progress notes, nursing records, imaging reports, and follow-up plans
- Whether future care is supported by treating providers, not just assumptions
In other words: the tool may help you ask better questions, but it shouldn’t be treated like a promise.
