Most settlement calculators use simplified assumptions—often treating injury severity and medical bills as if they automatically map to a payout.
In real Ohio malpractice claims, the outcome hinges less on a single “injury score” and more on questions like:
- Was there a breach of the standard of care? (What a reasonably careful provider would have done.)
- Did the breach cause your specific harm? (Causation is frequently the hardest part.)
- What damages are provable? (Not just that treatment was expensive—whether the costs are linked to the negligent care.)
Because calculators can’t evaluate expert opinions or causation, they may overestimate or underestimate depending on your case facts.
