Most calculators present a range based on injury type and severity. They can’t see whether the care team documented key findings, whether follow-up was appropriate, or whether causation is supported by medical evidence.
In practice, insurers and defense teams often focus on issues like:
- Gaps in charting (missing notes, incomplete nursing documentation, unclear timestamps)
- Whether earlier warning signs were addressed
- Whether worsening symptoms were reasonably anticipated
- Whether later treatment was necessary because of the original error—or because of an unrelated progression
Those details matter as much as the final outcome. A tool that estimates value without that record-level review can easily mislead.
