Many calculators ask for inputs like “medical bills” and “severity.” But in real malpractice matters, especially in Mississippi, settlement value depends less on what you spent and more on what can be proven:
- Whether a healthcare provider fell below the accepted standard of care (what a reasonably careful provider would do under similar circumstances)
- Whether that breach caused your specific harm (causation is often the hardest part)
- What damages are supported by documentation—not just what you believe happened
Even strong injuries can be harder to value if the medical record is incomplete, conflicting, or doesn’t clearly connect the negligent act to the outcome.
