Most online tools are built around broad assumptions—like the severity of injury, estimated medical bills, and whether symptoms are temporary or permanent. They can be helpful for understanding the types of damages people commonly claim, but they can’t truly account for:
- what was actually documented in the chart
- whether the care fell below the Illinois standard of care
- whether medical experts can connect the negligence to your specific harm
- whether there are gaps in records from imaging, hospital systems, or follow-up visits
In other words, the “number” you see online is often less about your exact case and more about how the calculator predicts outcomes for typical scenarios.
