Most calculators ask you to plug in broad details—like medical bills, the severity of injury, or how long you were treated. Those inputs can be a starting point, but they don’t capture the parts that tend to matter most in real Merced-area cases:
- Whether the care fell below California’s standard of care for the provider and setting (clinic, hospital, urgent care, etc.).
- Causation—proof that the mistake, not something else, caused your specific harm.
- Documentation quality—how complete the chart is, whether notes are consistent, and whether imaging/labs were interpreted appropriately.
- Future impact—especially when follow-up care requires travel for specialists or ongoing therapy.
In other words: a calculator may estimate “a range,” but settlement negotiations turn on evidence, expert review, and litigation risk.
