In cities and neighborhoods with frequent foot traffic, dog bite disputes commonly focus on two questions:
- Was the dog under reasonable control?
- Leash issues, an unsecured yard, or an owner who “let it happen” can become central.
- Was the risk foreseeable?
- If the dog has shown aggressive tendencies before, or if the owner should have anticipated contact with visitors, guests, or passersby, liability is more likely to be argued strongly.
That’s why two people with similar-looking wounds can end up with very different outcomes. The difference is often how well the incident is documented—and whether the evidence paints a clear picture of what was happening right before the bite.
