Most online tools use broad categories—medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering—to produce a rough range. That can be useful if you’re trying to compare your situation to what others commonly report.
But a calculator can’t accurately reflect:
- whether your injury is likely to be considered serious under New York injury documentation standards
- whether the dog owner’s conduct (control, restraint, supervision) is viewed as reasonable
- whether the defense will claim provocation, trespass, or lack of foreseeability
- whether your treatment was prompt enough to support a clear injury timeline
In other words: use the estimate to plan questions—not to predict a settlement.
