Online tools can feel helpful, but they usually don’t reflect the issues that commonly show up in local cases, such as:
- Where the incident happened (driveway, apartment/common area, sidewalk, or near a workplace)
- How quickly you got treatment after the bite (especially for puncture wounds)
- Whether the dog owner claims the dog was “provoked” or that the injured person was in an area they shouldn’t have been
- Whether the injury left scarring or functional limits that show up months later
In other words, a calculator may estimate “potential,” but insurers in Indiana still decide based on evidence and credibility.
