In many cases we see, the injury isn’t limited to a single visible spill. Instead, exposure may occur during:
- Cleaning, stripping, or refinishing projects (including products used in garages, basements, and rental units)
- Mold remediation or moisture-treatment work where strong chemicals are applied and ventilation is inadequate
- Construction and maintenance tasks where workers are exposed to fumes, vapors, or dust
- Tenant or resident re-entry after remediation where safety steps weren’t followed
Because symptoms can show up immediately or gradually, residents may delay care while “waiting to see.” That delay can make it harder to connect the exposure to later medical problems—especially when the chemical or worksite conditions have already changed.
