In our coastal communities, chemical incidents often happen in settings where people don’t expect “workplace” hazards:
- Home and coastal property cleanup after leaks, flooding, or mold remediation
- Construction and renovation where solvents, adhesives, sealants, and cleaning agents are used on-site
- Multi-unit housing and rentals, where ventilation, storage, and contractor oversight may be shared among multiple parties
- Service work (maintenance, inspections, and contractor-led repairs) where safety practices can vary by employer
Even if the incident seems minor at first—irritation, coughing, skin redness, headaches—chemical injuries can worsen as treatment is delayed or the exposure is misunderstood.
