While every situation is different, local cases often involve one of these patterns:
- Home and rental cleanups: odors that won’t clear after treatment, improper handling of cleaners/solvents, or remediation that didn’t follow safe procedures.
- Trades and jobsite work: exposure during painting, coating, insulation, corrosion control, cleaning, or maintenance—especially when ventilation or protective equipment is lacking.
- Product misuse or inadequate warnings: symptoms that begin after using a product in an enclosed area, with labels that were unclear, incomplete, or missing.
- Contractor and subcontractor incidents: one party performs the work, another supplies materials, and a third controls the premises—liability can be split.
Because Minnesota winters can push people indoors (and increase ventilation problems), exposures tied to enclosed spaces—garages, basements, storage rooms—can be especially concerning. If symptoms show up after an incident indoors, document timing and conditions early.
