Many online tools produce a number based on general assumptions. In practice, burn injuries are highly fact-specific, and local case value often turns on details like:
- Whether the burn required follow-up care at a burn-capable facility
- The likelihood of scarring, contractures, or functional limitations
- Whether smoke inhalation was involved (even if symptoms appear later)
- How quickly treatment was sought and documented
- Whether the incident occurred at a workplace, rental property, or public setting
Because burn injuries can worsen over time, a generic estimate may understate (or sometimes overstate) the true cost of care.
