Most burn calculators assume straightforward injuries and predictable recovery. Real cases are often different—especially when the burn occurred during a high-stress incident like a workplace malfunction, a winter home-heating problem, or a cooking-related accident in a busy household.
In practice, settlement value is influenced by:
- How long treatment lasts (burns can worsen before they improve)
- Whether there’s functional impact (hands, face, joints, and scars matter)
- Future care needs (scar management, therapy, follow-up procedures)
- Credibility and consistency of the injury timeline
If your burn required specialist care, ongoing wound treatment, or resulted in visible disfigurement, the “average” number from a calculator may be too low.
