Many calculators assume a fairly straightforward injury and a clean timeline. In real burn claims, insurers commonly look for reasons to reduce value, such as:
- Gaps in treatment after the initial ER visit
- Disputes over whether the burn worsened later due to the original incident
- Questions about causation when there were multiple exposures (common in workplaces and during cleanup after incidents)
- Underestimating the impact of scarring and sensitivity when the burn affects hands, face, or joints
If your burns required follow-up care—wound management, therapy, scar treatment, or additional procedures—your case can’t be accurately reduced to a generic range.
