Many online tools estimate value using broad burn categories. In real cases, however, insurers often focus on details that a generic calculator won’t capture—such as:
- Whether the burn involved critical areas (hands, face, joints) that affect function and employability
- Whether there’s inhalation involvement from smoke/heat exposure (even if symptoms appear later)
- How the burn evolved after the initial treatment—burn depth can worsen over time
- How quickly you obtained burn care and whether follow-up was consistent
In New Jersey, claims often turn on documentation and medical causation. If your records show a clear timeline and treatment plan, it’s easier to support both current and future damages. If the record is incomplete, insurers may argue the injury is less severe than you say.
