Most online tools estimate value using broad categories. But burn injuries rarely stay “category simple,” because the impact can evolve. In real cases, insurers often focus on:
- How the burn evolved over time (depth, scarring, complications)
- Whether you had inhalation injury or respiratory symptoms after smoke/heat exposure
- Functional effects (hands, face, joints, work-related limitations)
- Future care needs (scar management, follow-up procedures, therapy)
If a tool assumes a quick recovery, it can undervalue cases where treatment continues for months or where visible scarring affects daily life and employability.
