Many online tools use simplified assumptions—like how long treatment takes or how severe scarring typically is. But burn injuries are frequently different from the averages because of:
- Whether the burn involves hands, face, or joints (common in kitchen and work incidents)
- Complications such as infection, delayed healing, or nerve pain
- Inhalation or smoke exposure when burns involve fire incidents at home or work
- Longer recovery cycles that affect your ability to do physical tasks—especially in occupations common in Western Massachusetts
When a calculator doesn’t account for these factors, it can make the claim feel smaller (or larger) than it should be.
