In a smaller community, it’s common for people to receive initial care quickly and then continue treatment through follow-ups with local providers. That can be good for recovery, but it also means your claim may hinge on whether your medical records clearly show:
- the mechanism of the burn (heat vs. chemical vs. electrical)
- the depth and extent of injury
- whether there was inhalation exposure or complications
- how the injury progressed over days and weeks
A calculator can’t see whether your burn worsened after the first ER visit, whether you needed grafting, or whether scarring treatment and follow-up monitoring were planned. In practice, insurers often use early documentation to argue about severity—so the first weeks matter.
