Most online tools build estimates from broad assumptions. Real burn negotiations are usually driven by details that a generic calculator can’t see:
- How the burn happened (hot liquid vs. flame vs. chemicals vs. electrical exposure)
- Whether treatment required escalation (burn center care, grafting, prolonged wound management)
- Function and mobility impact (hands, face, joints, and nerves)
- Timeline of symptoms (some complications appear days later)
- Whether there’s smoke/airway involvement in fire or equipment incidents
In other words, a calculator might give a range, but insurers typically want documentation that ties your injury to the incident and explains why the harm is still affecting you.
