Online tools usually rely on averages. Burns aren’t average. In our experience, settlement amounts get driven by factors that a generic calculator can’t “see,” such as:
- Whether the burn required referral to burn specialists (and how quickly)
- Complications that show up after the first few days—like infection risk or delayed healing
- Functional impact (hand, face, joint areas) that affects work and daily tasks
- Ongoing scar management—topicals, laser therapy, reconstructive procedures, or physical therapy
In Colorado Springs, many burn cases also involve settings where documentation can be messy: fast-moving shifts at job sites, multi-party incidents, or injuries that occur during maintenance/repairs. If records are incomplete, insurers may try to minimize permanence.
