An AI estimate can be a starting point, especially when you’re trying to understand potential economic losses (like funeral costs and lost support) and the types of non-economic damages that may be available. In practice, though, calculators struggle with what makes Washington wrongful death cases complex:
- Unclear fault in multi-party crashes (common in commuter traffic and intersection collisions)
- Causation disputes (when the defense argues the death wasn’t caused by the incident)
- Insurance and policy questions (coverage can limit or shape negotiations)
- Documentation gaps (missing medical timelines, wage proof, or incident records)
In other words, an estimator can’t review the police report, medical records, employment history, or witness statements. It also can’t tell you how a claim will look once evidence is tested in negotiations.
