Many AI tools work by taking a few inputs (age, relationship, incident type, and some financial figures) and producing a rough range. That may feel helpful, but it often misses the realities that determine settlement value here, including:
- Causation disputes (what directly led to death versus what happened afterward)
- Evidence delays common in rural and out-of-town incidents (reports, videos, witness availability)
- Comparative fault arguments insurers raise in Texas when they believe the decedent or another driver contributed
- Insurance coverage questions when multiple entities may be involved (vehicle owners, employers, contractors, property owners)
A calculator can’t review scene documentation, medical records, or witness statements. And it can’t evaluate whether the defense will challenge liability under Texas standards.
