Many “AI calculators” generate a number from generic inputs. But wrongful death outcomes in Cattaraugus County (and across New York) are shaped by details that are hard for automation to capture—like how the incident happened, what witnesses observed, what documentation exists early on, and whether fault is likely to be disputed.
For example, in smaller communities, it’s common for cases to turn on:
- Whether reporting and documentation were complete from the start (incident reports, EMS notes, photos, scene measurements)
- How quickly records were obtained from employers, medical providers, or insurers
- Whether causation is contested (especially when there’s a delay between the incident and death)
A calculator can’t interview witnesses, review medical causation, or evaluate whether a defense will challenge the chain of events that led to death.
