Most online tools build a rough range by using generic inputs (age, relationship, medical bills, and so on). That can be useful for asking “what might be possible.” It usually fails to account for the factors that drive settlement value in New Mexico:
- Fault is frequently contested. Even when families strongly believe someone is responsible, defenses may argue the death was caused by another party, by an intervening factor, or by lack of causation.
- Documentation quality varies. Police reports, EMS notes, photographs, traffic logs, and witness statements can make or break damages.
- New Mexico procedure affects timing and leverage. Deadlines and early evidence collection change what a case can effectively support from the start.
An estimate may give you a starting point, but it can’t review the incident record, evaluate liability theories, or anticipate how the defense will challenge causation.
