Many AI tools claim they can estimate a wrongful death payout by using inputs like age, relationship, and general financial losses. The problem is that Newton cases often hinge on details that an algorithm can’t reliably capture:
- Causation disputes (for example, competing accounts of how a fatal injury occurred)
- Comparative fault issues (Iowa can reduce recovery when a claimant is found comparatively responsible)
- Evidence that exists locally, not “on average”—dash/traffic video, witness statements from nearby businesses, maintenance records, or incident reports
- Insurance handling patterns—adjusters frequently focus on what can be proven, not what feels fair
An online calculator may be a starting point for questions, but it can’t review the documents, evaluate liability under the facts, or predict how an insurer will respond once they understand the evidence.
