When a death happens after a serious collision or a workplace incident, families are hit from multiple directions: medical bills, emergency response costs, lost household support, and uncertainty about fault. An AI tool can appear to “answer” questions like:
- What might a settlement be worth?
- What losses are typically included?
- How long will it take?
The problem is that these tools don’t know what Lake Station investigators learn—like whether a traffic signal cycle, lane configuration, weather conditions, vehicle maintenance issues, or site safety practices contributed to the fatal outcome. They also can’t review the documents that insurance companies rely on: police findings, witness statements, employment records, and medical causation.
